Since spelling is one of the most important factors in English study, due attention should be given to it. As for me, I think, first, exams should be modified to add some factors into it, which would help students pay more attention to spelling. Then, schools should also set effective mechanisms to help teachers as well as the students to realize the importance. Finally, for students themselves, they can, through other ways, make them be interested in word spelling. Only by these can we surly realize the importance of spelling and make improvement.

Nowadays, an increasing number of students pay less attention to spelling which is the basic skill in the process of learning English.

Why that becomes the phenomenon sweeping all the students? There are two reasons accountable for the problem. To begin with, everything should keep up with the society developing at an awful speed. There is no exception. The easier we get information, the lazier we will be. It seems that students have already forgotten the importance of spelling. If they have difficult in words, they’ll refer to the dictionary or the Internet without the slightest hesitation. Besides, it’s a truth universally acknowledged that reading comprehension and grammar are the meat of English among students. Therefore, they ignore spelling.

A dozen of measures are supposed to take to solve the problem. The universities can hold more quizzes on spelling to enhance the interest. Then, teachers should help them to realize the importance. Finally, students should cut out the lazy hobby. They can’t rely on the dictionary too much not the memory. Only by these, can students attach more attention to spelling.

When it comes to the most difficult problem with English study, grammar, listening or writing may be the answer. However, it is ridiculous that what a number of students don’t attach much importance to a serious phenomenon—spelling. A variety of students make spelling mistakes, which has a bad effect on their writing and further their English study.

Accounting for the problem, three main reasons should be listed. At the first place, students are to blame for the lack of their concern. Many students are not diligent enough and some others do everything just for passing exams, which leads to the ignorance. What’s more, English teachers, who don’t emphasize the importance of spelling, are

responsible for the phenomenon. Last but not the least, the Chinese education system goes an inappropriate way and studying English in China is too mechanical and stiff.

Facing all of the reasons above, we need to take action to deal with the problem. First, it’s ourselves who are able to make a difference directly, which means diligence and emphasis. In addition, English teachers need to be more responsible and it’s a must for students to come to realize what the poor spelling means, so regular dictation for spelling is necessary.

There is a universal phenomenon among college students that in English learning they don’t attach much importance to spelling, which can find expression in the fact that numerous mistakes will arise in their compositions.I reckon that the primary reason why the majority of students ignore spelling in their English learning is that computers are performing increasingly important role in our daily life. Mostly, there is no need for us to use our pen or pencil when we compose an article or submit our assignments to the teachers.
